Digital isn’t for everyone

I know a number of elderly people who rely on others to contact the Council for them, because they themselves are most uncomfortable when faced with a computer. This is frequently in a library (they don’t own one) and it’s frustrating (and shaming) not to be able to cope. Non-digital methods should be made available at all times.

  1. We agree – the new strategy will be clear on the need for alternative channels to remain available and suitable support for those who need it

  2. Andy is right. Not everyone can use digital communication. My wife and I regularly support two neighbouring households who do not have digital technology, whenever they have an urgent issue. An example is non collection of bins, where the phone is always a recording saying “Did you know you can now report this on-line? Goodbye!”
